Your MLM Sponsor in Network Marketing

A common fact in networking marketing is that your MLM sponsor can have a big impact on your success (or lack).  When you join a new opportunity your MLM sponsor is your only real personal connection to the company.  They are your gateway and resource to training, facts about the business and information that will help you be successful.  Your MLM sponsor is the only person in the business who will care about you and your success.  This is because your success becomes their success.  As you get started with a new business, your sponsor is your lifeline.

The Importance of Your MLM Sponsor

clients_003When you have a great sponsor who helps get you started the “right” way for your business, it makes all the difference .  Starting in a network marketing opportunity is no different than starting a new job.  When you’re new, you want someone whom you have confidence in and who you respect and trust to show the way.  Would you accept a job if you you just didn’t respect or trust the person you would be reporting to?

In network marketing, your MLM sponsor is not your boss, BUT they are a person who should have a vested interest in your business success.  I am not saying that your MLM sponsor needs to be a top leader for the company or that they appear to know everything there is to know about the business.  But you want to be confident that when you join a business, your MLM sponsor will be available and helpful so that you can get going.

You and Your MLM Sponsor – a Two-Way Street

Sponsorship in network marketing is a two-way street.  It is a business relationship in which the MLM sponsor and person being clients_001sponsored can mutually benefit from their relationship. Both parties have their responsibilities.  In the beginning the MLM sponsor needs to be able to train, lead and direct the new person to additional resources. These resources could include an introduction to other more established leaders on the team or a recommendation to attend a training event offered by the company.   So too, the newly sponsored person needs to be willing to learn and implement the action plan designed to help them succeed. It’s a mutually dependent relationship. It can fall apart or become dysfunctional if both parties are not pulling their weight.

Keep in mind that in network marketing, the “squeaky wheel” (the person who has lots of questions or complaints but who doesn’t put the sponsor’s advice into ACTION), does not always get the grease.  There is a motto in network marketing, “Work with who deserves it, not who needs it.”

Before you join a network marketing opportunity, seek a MLM sponsor who is knowledgeable, accessible and capable of helping you achieve what you want to want to achieve.  After you join and have been on-boarded, you need to demonstrate to your sponsor, by your actions, that you are a valuable business partner and worthy of their time and attention.

To Your Success!
